Assange Legion March Over London!
A poem in honor of Julian Assange and the brave people forming a human chain at the UK parliament to fight against his extradition.
The rhythmic thumping of feet against the road
The steady drumbeat of grit and hope
The gentle clinking of chains, as we link together and lope
In solidarity with a cause, with which our heart is close
As we march towards the Houses of Parliament
The sound of our footsteps is echoing through the street
Our voices raised in unison, For justice and freedom,
Ringing out clear and true, which no one can browbeat
The air is thick with tension and anticipation
As we wait to see if our voices will be heard
But whatever the outcome, we know we've made a stand
And our message will be heard loud and clear.
The air is thick with tension and anticipation
We've made a stand in front of the nation
With a message as loud as a cathedral gong
"Release Assange, he's done nothing wrong!"
Holding hands, building chain,
Our voices crying out in sorrow and pain:
"What did he do to you, that you want him to fall?"
"Is he a criminal, Is he a traitor, does he deserves this all!"
"He uncovered the truth, and that was no feat small."
"He's a hero, on a pedestal whom we should install"
The sound of the city rises around us
A cacophony of horns and engines and sirens.
The din of people's lives going on around us,
Unaware of the tumult and the drama playing in our environs
But we don't waiver, we don’t budge, we don't give in
We hold our ground, refuse to be shaken, and dig in
In our quest for truth and justice, this is our marching song
"Free Assange, he's done nothing wrong!"
